Media Kit: Text Messaging
To many customers, texting is becoming just as important – if not more important – than voice.
Parents know, if they want to reach their teenagers, they better know how to text—they aren’t calling them back.
And in matters of the heart, text messaging has also played a role in how couples connect, flirt, fall in love and even, sadly, breakup.
The good news is more and more people realize that texting is a convenient way to stay connected—from coordinating their social calendars to sending reminders during the day.
AT&T helped champion the adoption of texting through its sponsorship of American Idol when it introduced text voting to the show in 2003. Then, with messaging adoption continuing to soar, AT&T rolled out a line of affordable phones in October 2008 that offer full keyboards that deliver a crisp, easy messaging experience—in addition to other robust features like full Web browsing.
Today, AT&T continues to be a leader in text messaging, including encouraging consumers to take the pledge not to text while driving as part of the AT&T Txtng & Drivng: It Can Wait campaign.
